Aperol Spritz Socials, Manchester

food travel health fitness blog

Last week I was in need of a vitamin D injection. The weather was pretty haywire, one minute it was cloudy, the next sunny. Then rain. Then wind. All I wanted was S U N. Luckily, the bright orange beverage that is Aperol Spritz did manage to quench my appetite for sun shine. It feels very summery indeed.

I was invited along to Restaurant Bar and Grill in Manchester by the crazy guys at Aperol. These guys know how to have a good time. And somehow they can all pull-off wearing luminous orange as part of their outfits. Amazing, really.

The Spritz was flowing. And the sun was (intermittently) shining. It’s a stunning roof terrace and they’d kitted it out with Aperol mini bars just for the occasion, complete with lush nibbles and freebie, luminous orange sun glasses! #nabbed

I went along with my friend Lucas from Lucas Smith Photography fame (and once again, everyone thought we were a couple, including the photographer who got us to pose for him #cringe).

A lovely evening was had by all. Thanks to the Aperol/RBG team for inviting us to join them.

we are cute though

Stick around to answer one of Lifes Big Questions at the end of the post…

Oh and whilst you’re here, I should probably tell you how to make the perfect Aperol Spritz? Well here you have it, in five easy, peasy steps:

  1. Fill a large wine glass with plenty of ice
  2. Top up to half way with Prosecco
  3. Add a generous dash of Aperol
  4. Top up with soda water
  5. Stir well and enjoy.

Drink (as the Italian’s do, apparently) as an aperitif before your meal. It’s perfect for summer, and dangerously drinkable!

Here are a few of my fave snaps from the evening:

So what’s your stance on the Aperol Spritz (be honest!)? Have you ever tried it? I get the feeling it’s a little bit like Marmite, so I’d love to hear what you think…
