Street food traders to look out for this Summer

street food manchester cheshire

Summer is fast approaching. Or is it all over and we’ve just experienced the best of it?! Either way, there’s nothing I enjoy more than sitting outdoors (preferably in the sunshine) on a wobbly table chowing down on some fat scran 😏

Pizzas, burgers, seafood and anything barbecued make absolutely incredible street food and are among my favourites to eat at markets and just al fresco in general!

So here are my top picks for the best street food eats around Cheshire and Manchester this summer. Let me know if you get to try any of them over on Instagram @sophiesscran!

Jordy’s Pizza

Ahh, Jordy’s pizza. He’s been serving freshly made pizzas (with his own dough recipe) from a wood-fired oven on the back of his yellow pick-up truck since 2015. It’s been great to watch him grow and now he’s got regular spots at some of the best places across Manchester and Cheshire! His mushroom, parmesan and truffle oil is to die for. Or if you’re a spice-loving carnivore you have to try his nduja special, it’s fantastic!

Look out for him at Media City Salford and at Barrel and Tap in Nantwich and enjoy your Jordy’s pizza with an ice-cold craft beer! I am sure he’ll be popping up at various events across the summer so look out for him and his yellow truck, you can’t miss him!

Catch Jordy: Barrel and Tap, Nantwich every Thurs and Fri 6-9:30 PM

What’s Your Beef Burgers

The best burger I’ve ever tried? These guys come a close second. The best I’ve ever eaten was the Trufflenator in Sydney (link here) but to eat burgers this good in my hometown of Sandbach is honestly an absolute DREAM!

street food manchester cheshirestreet food cheshire: whats your beef burgersstreet food cheshire: whats your beef burgersstreet food cheshire: whats your beef burgersTheir beef is juicy and full of flavour. The way they craft their burgers from toppings to sauces has a level of OCD that pleases me immensely, and their flavour combinations are an absolute dream.

My favourite is their Firey Bull: which includes their signature beef patty, spinach, beef tomato, chorizo, manchego, yellow peppers, homemade sweet chilli and fiery hot sauce. It is sensational. Also pictured is their Stateside Deluxe with pickles, cheddar, Heinz ketchup and French’s mustard is damn good too!

I also want to mention to their amazing biodegradable, concertina style burger wrap packaging which allows you to eat their burgers spill free as it catches all the juices that would otherwise run down your arm. Genius.

Catch them at Sandbach Maker’s Market every third Saturday of the month (12th May and 9th June 10:00 AM-3:00 PM!)

Holy Crab Seafood

You may have seen me rave about these girls in my last post about Hatch, Manchester’s latest street food pop-up. But, I said it once and I’ll say it again. These girls make seafood sexy. They make it taste subtle, delicious and ‘not too fishy’ for allllllll the seafood haters out there, trust me, this food WILL convert you!

They make well sourced, fresh and delicious seafood seem effortless with their deliciously fresh Colchester oysters, cheesy crab balls, salads and their signature take on the humble fish finger butty. Their food is fantastic. They’re passionate about what they do. They’re bringing delicious seafood into the local street food scene and I think that is absolutely brilliant.

Catch them at Hatch, Manchester for the next 12 weeks!

Firebird Hope Chicken and Vegan Seitan Sandwiches

Who doesn’t love a crispy, fried chicken sandwich with homemade condiments and served up on toasted, soft white crispy rolls? These guys have really got it going on. Their organic, free-range Yorkshire chicken is tendered in a 24-hour buttermilk brine before they coat it in their signature mix and serve it up inside a sourdough roll with old school shredded lettuce, agave slaw and koji (think miso and a Japanese vibe) mayo.

Plus, ALL their seasonings, including the mayo, are vegan; so the vegan version of their chicken sandwich (made from the finest quality seitan) is by no means an afterthought. These guys are proper foodies so make sure you look out for them this summer, too!

I hope you like my picks and are equally excited about the street food scene in Manchester and Cheshire this Summer. There are so many new traders I want to try so I’ll be keeping a look of for them at GRUB, Hatch, Makers Markets and more.
