Being Shortlisted for a Northern Blog Award, or two!

Ahhh, I am really chuffed to say that Sophie’s Scran has been nominated for not one but two Northern Blog Awards!

So far, 2018 has been a good year for Sophie’s Scran. Earlier this year the blog was also shortlisted to the last five in Lovin’ Manchester’s Social Media Awards in the ‘Manchester’s Best Food Blogger’ category.

Blogging and working full time can be tricky. There are times when I just want to pack it in (and I’m sure all the other bloggers can relate!)

BUT, there’s been a lot of work put into this blog, and I want it to be the best that it can be!

This year I have invested in the blog more than usual. It had a much-needed makeover back in April and I also streamlined and reorganised it too. Now, focusing more on promoting local food businesses I’m more happy with it than ever. And  – and people seem to be enjoying it, so thank you!

My blogging goals: To promote more local food businesses

I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can start to use my blog a little more effectively.

Since starting the blog in 2014, I’ve found a passion for promoting small, local (and amazing) food business.

Afterall, it’s almost always the little guys that make the tastiest food. What I have found is that the best food usually comes from the best people – utterly passionate and devoted to what they do. All in the name of producing amazing food, perfecting their craft and just generally being excellent feeders!

So, I’ve started a new little feature; Meet the Maker.

It’s going to be a bi-weekly (every other Thursday) short form post that showcases a local food business. It’s mainly going to focus on the Manchester and Cheshire areas but I am open to suggestions if anyone has any further afield!

The idea is that we get to know the people behind the food a little better. Sharing their stories, why they do what they do and also, of course, showing off the incredible fodder they produce.

So just watch this space… 😄👀 as the first post is coming soon!
