Honest Burgers, Manchester

Honest Burgers, Manchester

It feels good to write “Honest Burgers, Manchester” as a title.

I’ve had an Honest Burger down in London and really love both their beef and chicken burgers – and of course *those* rosemary chips.

But now these guys are the latest London-based restaurant success to join the Manchester elite and if you love burgers you need to get yourself down to Bridge Street off Deansgate asap.

Their menu is simple showcasing their main offering: British beef patties (using meat from their own butchery) and homemade rosemary chips (cut and cooked fresh daily) with a solid chicken, vegan and veggie burger on offer too.

Keeping it local

One of the best things about Honest Burgers is just how much they champion local produce. Each restaurant has a local special so naturally, their Manchester Special is made with locally produced Bury Black Pudding and Runaway Brewery beer. It’s a glorious beef burger with black pudding, beer cheese sauce, mini roasties, bacon gravy, rocket and pickles. It really doesn’t get more Manchester than that!

Alongside their menu, they also serve locally-brewed beers too. The perfect accompaniment to a burger, am I right?? We tried a lush, light IPA which washed down our burgers perfectly.

British Beef Burgers

It’s what most people come here for – an excellent beef burger. They’re not ‘dirty’, only a little bit messy and you can double up the patty if you’re super hungry.

We had their “Tribute” burger – a beef burger with bacon, American cheese, burger sauce, French’s mustard, pickles, onion and lettuce served with rosemary salted chips. And it tasted as glorious as it looks!

Served pink and juicy

To get that juicy, succulent taste and texture the beef comes pink – this pink – as standard. It’s the way to go if you want the full Honest Burger experience and I don’t think having it any other way will do the meat justice.

But if pink’s not your thing they’ll happily cook it through a little more for you.

Rosemary Salted Chips & Sides

The second best thing about an Honest Burger is without a doubt their home cooked chips. I mean, just look at them. Hand cut and fried to perfection these exquisitely-seasoned chips are the perfect side to any Honest burg.

Their salads and slaws are crunchy, fresh and delicious too – and an extra serving of crispy greens is never a bad idea, if you ask me.

The Veggie Option

And last but by absolutely no means least we tried their epic veggie burger. Their new fritter recipe is sensational for veggies and meat-lovers alike – a southern fried fritter burger with cheddar, chipotle mayo, slaw, red onion and pickles.

You know I love veggie and vegan options as much as excellent quality meat and this fresh fritter burger with its amazing textures and the best chipotle mayo I’ve tasted, does not disappoint.

It’s a solid veggie option by all accounts so give it a go if you’re not feeling carnivorous!

Specials, Click & Collect and Liverpool Opening

Overall I was super impressed with Honest Burgers and think you will be too.

You can Click & Collect from all of their restaurants by ordering on their website – perfect for an office lunch or if you’re too hungover to sit in 😉

They are currently serving up a glorious looking Bravas beef burger with chorizo, manchego, patatas bravas, confit garlic mayo, rocket and pickles…

And finally, they’re also opening on Bold Street in Liverpool at the end of July so watch this space, beer and burger lovers! ❤️🍔🍻

Thank goodness, someone to replace Byron’s ‘clean’ burger offering. I have a sensitive tummy and can’t stomach ‘dirty’ burgers. As much as I’d like to.

Ahhh yes the dirty burgers are so intense. You’ve got to be a special kind of hungry to enjoy those! But Honest Burg is truly fab. And THOSE FRIIIIIES and the chipotle mayo is not to be missed either! Hope you’re well, Jo x

Excellent review. I concur, Honest Burgers is an excellent addition to Manchester’s casual food scene. Their beer is very good as well, if a bit pricey. I must say the pictures accompanying your writing are superb. Thanks for the blog, it’s a cracker.
